Fitz Park in Keswick

Theatre by the Lake
Keswick is a thriving market town in the Northern Lake District. Situated on the shores of Derwentwater, the widest lake in the Lake District, and at the foot of the famous Skiddaw range of fells, the town is a popular destination for walkers, climbers and people wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Tourism is a major part of Keswick life yet there is still a strong local community which appeals to both the younger and older generations.
There is plenty to interest all ages including walking, climbing, sailing and other water sports, fishing, cycling, and other attractions such as galleries, shops, a thriving local market and some of the best wildlife and scenery in England.
There are restaurants offering a range of culinary delights - Indian, Chinese, Thai, Italian as well traditional English home-cooking. There is also a huge offering of cafes, where you can enjoy a nice latte and sandwich, and bars where you can experience a range of real ales.
Although Keswick is an exciting market town there are many places where you can enjoy the serenity of the Lake District. Fitz Park is only 5 minutes walk and incorporates the cricket ground, which was voted "the most beautiful cricket ground in Britain" by a leading cricket magazine, a children's play area and football field. There are also tennis courts, crown green bowling, putting, a football field and a play area for the kids.
Alternatively you can walk down to the lakeshore to catch one of the lake cruises or take a rowing boat. There is also the Theatre by the Lake which has various shows on offer throughout the year and a mini golf course in Crow Park.
